This Isn’t Good— The government shutdown continues and TSA workers are quitting because they aren’t getting paid. You probably still have to take off your shoes and belt at security. No big deal right? The NY Times reports the FDA has stopped food safety inspections of seafood, fruits, veggies and a host of foods that are at high risk of contamination. Yes, a result of the shutdown. Careful with the romaine. Nobody Wants Our Cheese— America has a 1.4 billion-pound cheese surplus. Because we drink less dairy milk. And more people are moving away from processed cheese. The increasing surplus of cheese (and milk) mean prices are declining, and ultimately dairy farmers take the hardest hit. Everyone Loves Richmond— Travel the nation and you’ll notice every region has its favorite grocery with loyal “followers.” Until you hit Richmond, Virginia that is. The Short Pump area of Richmond boasts a Publix, Wegman’s, Aldi, Lidl, Whole Foods, Costco, Trader Joe’s, Fresh Market… and even two Wawa’s—all within walking distance. And it seems to be working. Finally— It’s about time.
